Abstract

Cross-linked smectites (CLS) also called pillared interlayer clays (PILC) are molecular sieves of considerable porosity, thermal stability and residual ion-exchange capacity. A systematic study is reported of CLS products prepared by controlled cross-linking of Ce3+- and La3+-montmorillonites, and of fluorinated 160NH4+-montmorillonites having different F contents.-D.F.B.
