Abstract

The research on the Undang-Undang Ternate manuscripts has never been conducted, despite the fact that the condition of the manuscripts is really bad. If this situation is not anticipated soon, Indonesia will lose one of the national cultural inheritance containing ideas on laws and power. This reality constitutes a background for the research on the Undang-Undang Ternate manuscripts. In addition, the studies on the manuscripts containing knowledge about structure and power relation are important to be conducted because the results of the studies can provide knowledge on structure and applied power relation in a certain area and period. The research uses the philological research method. The research phases that will be conducted are to make the inventory and to describe manuscripts, to select and to determine the manuscripts that will be edited and reviewed, to collect data, to understand data, to do interpretation, and to analyze data. The research results will contribute to fill in the shortage in the studies of law manuscripts in the area of East Indonesia and fill in the shortage in the studies of Ternate history using the classical manuscript research objects.
