Abstract

Compared to other utterance types, general and special questions are characterized by greater syntactic and semantic integrity, manifested phonetically in week F0 fluctuations within the accent groups, lack of F0 declination and absence of potential boundaries between syntactic units. Thus the utterance type seems to be of the factors which influence the size of the intonation unit.
