Abstract

Blasting is an absolutely necessary procedure during the course of tunnel construction. The Blasting fumes not only endanger the life of construction staff, but also have profound effects on tunnel construction organization design. The traditional method such as dilution theory which indicates that the blasting fume concentration decided by natural ventilation volume and doesn't consider the motion and diffusion characteristics of blasting fume itself has been used to calculate the blasting fumes concentration in the tunnel. Based on above-mentioned problems, through application of diffusion theory the distribution of blasting fume in the tunnel has been studied which not only provides safety guarantee to construction but also provides proofs to artifical ventilation design in the tunnel. © 2011 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
