Abstract

Marinilabiaceae is a family in the phylum Bacteroidetes and class Bacteroidia. The family contains three genera: Marinlabilia, Alkiflexus, and Anaerophaga. The genome sequence of Anaerophaga sp. strain HS1, a novel, moderately thermophilic, strictly anaerobic bacterium isolated from hot spring sediment, has been published. The genus Alkaliflexus contains a single species, namely, A. imshenetskii. All members of the family are Gram-negative, obligatory anaerobic, and non-spore-forming and grow as long and flexible rod-shaped cells.
