“Europe will be forged in crises and will be the sum of the solutions adopted for those crises” Jean Monnet The idea of establishing a union based on a federal order in Europe dates back to ancient times. Europe’s story is a struggle for existence between ideals and truths ranging from Charlemagne to Pierre Dubois, Dante to William Penn, Jeremy Bentham to Aristide Briand, Jean Monnet, Robert Schuman and Konrad Adenauer. “The Dark Continent” was able to realize the struggle for existence after the First and Second World Wars concretely. Thanks to the establishment of the European Coal and Steel Community, the hostility between Germany and France, which had continued for centuries, ended and the “High Authority” model envisaging the transfer of national authority has brought peace to the continent. In the early years of the European integration process, in which failures turned into new accomplishments, the collapse of the ideas regarding political and defense unions transformed into the realization of the integration in an economic context and in time to a political union. The rejection of the European Political and Defense Community Plans led to the establishment of the European Economic Community and the European Atomic Energy Community in 1958.
