Abstract

This chapter will discuss how technological memory aids can both support and hinder remembering. We will begin by examining the ways in which the Internet and other technologies can essentially memorize information for us. Whilst this can have adverse consequences, technology can also be used to improve memory. We will explore some of the major practical applications of technological memory aids, particularly in terms of helping those with memory impairment. Ultimately, this chapter will show how technology can ease the burden of remembering within a variety of applied settings. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)(chapter)
