Abstract

The process of writing a management plan is a complicated one that can be helped by the use of software tools like CMSi. Software management systems help in that they can provide a consistent structure for the plan, allow rapid access to other existing management plans where similar issues have already been addressed encouraging a sharing of management experience and they can integrate mapping with the management plan thus helping readers visualise where work should be undertaken. An additional bonus is that different report outputs can simply created from the same data source thus from the same "document" an simple overview management plan can be produced for the public whilst a more detailed technical plan can be produced for the site manager. Even more beneficial of a software approach to management planning is the integration of work recording with the plan. This transforms the plan into a dynamic working tool, recording actions and targets achieved against objectives allowing both local site reporting and corporate reporting on all the sites managed by that organisation.
