Adult male hormonal disorders that urologists typically encounter mostly involve dysregulation or deficiencies of the hypothalamic pituitary gonadal (HPG) axis. By far the most common condition encountered is that of testosterone deficiency, or low testosterone. Thus, treatment of male hormonal disorders in a urology clinic typically involves the replacement of testosterone after a patient has been diagnosed through symptom and laboratory evaluation. This chapter focuses on the treatment options available in the management of testosterone deficiency syndrome (TDS), highlighting practical approaches to the treatment of TDS. Along with testosterone, the management of derangements in two other hormones that should be familiar to urologists, estradiol and prolactin, are also discussed.
