Abstract

The aim of the paper is to develop an Intelligent Real-time Interactive Information System for remote monitoring of the path followed, for providing alerts during the journey to passengers, messages to the transport staff in case of an emergency, for providing the position of vehicle to the passengers on query, and which interacts with the central transport system to provide the possible help to the passengers in case of theft or health issues during the journey according to the passenger’s information with the aid of GSM communication and GPS devices. It overcomes the drawback of wired and wireless constraints such as complicated wiring, difficult maintenance, and distance monitoring. The application has system embedded with ARM7 microcontroller, real-time operating system, GPS device, GSM modem, and control devices to monitor the path followed, provide destination alerts to the passengers, and ensure their safety during the journey. The application system consisting of hardware and software modules will be discussed in detail. Based on the implemented embedded application, hardware will be fabricated and tested for its correct functionality. In this paper, the features of the developed monitoring system are simple and highly reliable. The PSDM System monitors the path followed by the vehicle, provides alert messages, and ensures the safety of passengers during the journey in public transport systems and has project practicality and vendibility.
