Abstract

Although often managed by a multidisciplinary team of clinicians that may include plastic surgeons, urologists, burn surgeons, and intensivists, the overall prompt diagnosis and early, aggressive surgical management and critical care should be orchestrated by the acute care surgeon. This condition can have rapidly life-threatening implications if not diagnosed early and treated expeditiously, and this chapter will highlight the hallmarks for early recognition and tents of surgical debridement and wound care.
