Abstract

Application for grant funding is an essential component of modern surgical research. The majority of research studies, whether clinical, laboratory-based or technological, are fundamentally dependent on the successful accrual of research funds. These are acquired through successful grant applications. Within this chapter, some of the salient points involved in formulating and submitting a grant application will be addressed in order to familiarise the reader with the necessary steps to prepare a successful research grant application. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2010.
