Abstract

The Arctic region has been experiencing large scale changes, especially in ice sheets, glaciers and sea-ice, on account of global warming. These changes are likely to affect tropical regions, especially India. The melting of ice has provided economic opportunities along with environmental challenges. In this chapter, various issues related to the development of the region and the ecosystem have been discussed. A collaborative action with the Arctic countries has been emphasized to address concerns of Asian countries, specifically India.
