Abstract

In this paper we review global Monte Carlo techniques for radiosity. A technique for progressively refining the solution in global Monte Carlo is presented, based in the classical statistical results on the expected value and variance of a weighted sum of independent random variables. The method is shown to work well also for the classic Monte Carlo methods. We finally show its usefulness in distributing the work over a workstations network.
