Abstract

Advancement in Internet technology has brought about new opportunities for knowledge sharing and accumulation towards the community of men and women. The Internet can provide unlimited opportunities for economic development and social engagement through new tools and innovative thinking. This study aimed to review the patterns of Internet usag among women entrepreneurs, in line with online business phenomenon that culminates today. Women entrepreneurs in this study referred to online women entrepreneurs that carries with them a mission to be successful entrepreneurs by making Internet as the main medium for initiating their businesses. The objective of this study is to determine the Internet consumption pattern among women entrepreneurs measured through several Quantitative survey was conducted on 402 women entrepreneurs with online businesses. Two survey methods were used, i.e. face to face interviews and online. The study defined Internet usage as respondents’ ability and experiences in using Internet including measuring the frequency of accessing Internet applications, skills and motivation when using Internet. The results showed that applications frequently accessed and used by the respondents are applications that attract the attention of public, like WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram. Respondents also have high skills and motivation to use the Internet. Clearly, this suggests that modern women entrepreneurs are very dependent, highly skilled and motivated to use the Internet in their business dealings.
