Abstract

A história da Associação Brasileira de Enfermagem (ABEn) confunde-se, quase, com a história da enfermagem moderna no Brasil. Ambas nasceram na década de vinte. Este resumo procura sintetizar as principais realizações da ABEn: criação da Revista Brasileira de Enfermagem, consecução de leis destinadas à regulamentação do ensino e do exercício profissional, realização de congressos anuais, promoção de atividades destinadas a facilitar o desenvolvimento intelectual e profissional dos enfermeiros e do pessoal auxiliar e a elaboração de levantamentos e pesquisas no campo da enfermagem.The history of the Brazilian Nursing Association (ABEn) is very similar to the history of modern nursing in Brazil.
