Abstract

The users of the supercomputer are changing from the scientific community to the business community. However, the database and knowledge base applications are executed on the computer based on the Neumann architecture designed for the numerical processing. We propose a novel parallel computer architecture that uses optical devices to exploit the inherent parallelism of optics for the parallel processing of the rule-based systems. The proposed system uses two-dimensional spaces as basic computational entities and is therefore able to perform concurrent comparison operations of the expert system.
