The chapter critically frames Location-Based Mobile Games in the context of mobile-based experiences providing different definitions and a brief history of their development over time. It addresses the characteristics of LBMGs and their technological implications, discussing them as location-based services. It further analyses the impact of these games on the way we look at urban and public spaces, intending LBMGs as pervasive games, thus able to expand the player’s experience in time, space and sociality.
