Abstract

Phenotypic plasticity of germination is one of the most important components of the complementary sets of survival adaptations and strategies found during the life cycle of many annual plant species occurring in the Negev Desert, as well as in several other desert regions (Zohary 1937, 1962; Beneke 1991; Gutterman 1993, 1998a, 2000a, b, d; Baskin and Baskin 1998).
