The patterns of family formation are in transition. The reasons for this mobility are complex and may derive from a number of factors, such as the development of new, global communication networks, new career opportunities, educational opportunities and, of course, love. In this chapter, we use a number of qualitative case studies to zoom in on the everyday life of transnational families and to discuss families and fatherhood in relation to migration, nationality and globalization. In particular, we focus on how fatherhood and masculinity are understood and constructed in relation to children and partners within the context of transnational family life.
