The authors recently reported the preparation and properties of thermotropic liquid crystalline polyesters and copolyesters derived from dicarboxylic acid dichlorides and bisphenols containing ketone groups between the aromatic rings. Partial replacement of ketone groups by alternating them with amide groups seemed to us a way to produce the polyamidoesters with the increased transition temperatures and broadened mesophasic range. In this paper it is shown that polymers under the study behave indeed as it was expected, as well as the upper limit of stability of the anisotropic phase in such copolyamidoesters is lower than their decomposition temperatures.
