Abstract

In this chapter we will identify the need for greater clarity in the wilderness therapy (WT) industry of what constitutes family involvement by drawing from research in the larger field of child and family psychotherapy, as well as recognizing die unique opportunity that WT presents for intentional family interventions and measures. This chapter is unique to this book since it represents an attempt to provide research-based conclusions and recommendations for intentional family interventions and programming, while a number of other chapters are focused on describing specific interventions or general methods in current use. WT as used in this chapter is synonymous with Outdoor Behavioral Healthcare (OBH). (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2023 APA, all rights reserved)
