Abstract

Within quantum theory, the Born rule restricts our ability to predict measurement outcomes. However, could it be that this restriction is not fundamental, but instead due to the quantum wavefunction being insufficient to generate the most precise predictions? In other words, could there be an extension of quantum theory giving more informative predictions? Here we review a recent line of work arguing that this question has a negative answer.
