Abstract

Accurate billing and coding allows you to practice medicine by providing you with the optimal and appropriate financial reimbursement for your work. Forgive the comparison, but even the most skillful car mechanic would quickly fail in business if he routinely neglected to charge for replacement parts or continually underestimated his labor time. Accurate billing ensures that you, your patient, and most likely the third-party payer are all receiving the ethically and legally appropriate charges and payments for services rendered. © 2010 Springer-Verlag New York.
