Abstract

Radical cystectomy (RC) in firmly constituted in the treatment of bladder cancer, yet, it is a severely morbid procedure. Lowering complications risk associated with RC is subject of considerable interest. Therefore, it is highly recommended to adhere to evidence-based data to lower the risk of complications and optimize the results. In 2013, Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) society published coordinated perioperative RC guidelines with aim to fight surgical dogma and tradition, reduce surgical stress, and facilitate postoperative recovery. In this article, we present a review of up-to-date literature on ERAS in patients treated with RC.
