This study was aimed to explain main idea skills' and parahrase sklills' who were taught reading by using scramble technique and those who taught the direct instruction. The Implementation reasons of study is for reading comprehension fourth grade students in determining the main idea and paraphrase is still low. The subject of this study were student of grade 4 SDN 2 Pengadilan the regency of Tasikmalaya totaling 50 students, consist of 25 students from the experimental class, and 25 students from the control class. The research method was used is quasi experiment with two treatment design. The instrumen werw used are main idea skills' test and paraphrase skills' test. The contibution of each instruction were analised by using software SPSS 16 and Microsoft Excel 2007. The result of this study were: (1) there was different in main idea skills' who were taught reading by using scramble technique and those who taught the direct instruction, and (2) there was different in parafrase skills' who were taught reading by using scramble technique and those who taught the direct instruction.
