Abstract

The organizers of this conference have chosen to contrast the whole-brain and neocortical definitions of death. It is not clear how precisely they are using the terms. Presumably, to be precise, a whole-brain oriented concept of death is one that measures death by the loss of all brain structure or functions, while a neocortical concept of death is one that measures death by the loss of all neocortical structure or functions
