Abstract

The use of a rational approach based on structure-activity relationships led to the discovery of SOM230, a novel and stable cyclohexapeptide somatostatin analog. SOM230 exhibited unique high affinity binding to human somatostatin receptors (SSTR1-5) and a superior inhibitory effect on the GH and IGF-1. [on SciFinder (R)]
