Abstract

Detection of sub-communities in complex networks, such as social networks and protein-protein interaction networks, can enhance our understanding of structures and functions of different communities. In this paper, we introduced a novel method combined fuzzy clustering and IP values to identify community structures in complex networks. We evaluated our method on two real-world social networks with known communities. The experiment results show that our method works well for detecting sub-communities and give a reasonable understanding of these communities. © 2013 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
