Abstract

The computer's impact on business in recent years is nothing short of incredible. Sophisticated software has been developed that will assist managers in their decision-making processes and also enable computers to think like human experts. These software packages are respectively known as decision support systems (DSS) and expert systems (ES). Because of the similarities in objectives between these two types of systems, some form of an integrated system using the two approaches could produce significant synergistic results. This paper discusses techniques and approaches to do this.
