Abstract

It is one of the main factors on safety researching that effective measures should be taken to determine the TNT equivalence of composite propellant. This paper based on the minimum free energy method, programmed composition with MATLAB for calculating equilibrium products of composite propellant detonation and TNT equivalence of composite propellant with different ratio, and developed visualized software. The results show that the higher mass fraction of aluminum powder was, the higher thermal damage to the environment was for the same mass of composite propellant. Meanwhile the increasing of the mass fraction of solid explosives in all the components will improve the explosive properties, which will provide some theoretical foundations for the risk assessment of composite propellant and provide foundations for the safety performance of composite propellant. © 2010 Springer-Verlag.
