Abstract

This chapter describes the enzymes expressed in Leydig cells that are required for the biosynthesis of testosterone from cholesterol, as well as the two enzymes, steroid 5α- reductase and P450arom, that metabolize testosterone to dihydrotestosterone and estradiol, respectively. The empha- sis is on human and mouse enzymes.
