This article summarizes the unrests and concerns that led to the research project titled "Impacts of the new morphologies of contemporary work on the life, illness and death of workers", started in 2019, at the Institute of Advanced Studies of the University of Sao Paulo (IEA-USP). It starts by identifying and acknowledging from a (mainly) sociological perspective the main studies that were carried out, but the text also seeks to deepen reflections on the nature and complexity of the pathogenesis mechanisms of the new morphologies of work on the life and health of workers, from the perspective of Social Epidemiology.
