Abstract

Intracarpal canal pressure measurements were performed in 15 patients with carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). The mean pressure in carpal tunnel syndrome patients was signifi cantly elevated. With the wrist in a neutral position the mean pressure was 32 mmHg but with 90° of wrist fl exion the pressure increased to 94 mmHg. Carpal tunnel release brought an immediate reduction in pressure.
