Abstract

Developments in microelectronics have made possible a variety of new information technology services with large market potential. Implementation of these new services requires a comprehensive communictions infrastructure. It is pointed out how an integrated services digital network will meet this need by coordinating existing communications facilities and by providing connections for a variety of services over a common path.
