Abstract

The aim of this work is to study the influence of the insertion of metallic foam in a methanol steam reforming reactor for the production of hydrogen. This work is focused on two configurations: a reactor with and without metal foam. This is a numerical study carried out under Fluent-Ansys software. Temperature and species profiles within the reactor are given. The results show that the metal foam insert improves the efficiency of the reactor by 16%.
