Abstract

Jürgen Habermas can be presented as one of the most known and productive authors in the scope of the philosophy, social sciences and social psychology. His contributions, discussions and proposals on the coordinate post-nationalists, the individual and collective identities, for example, have been obligatory reference for diverse disciplines of Human Sciences and became object of critic for many theorists. With the aim to cooperate in the understanding of the habermasiana reading, mainly the questions involving the human identity, we discuss how the issue of identity was introduced in hisinitial Works (I), then present the main ideas developed in his Theory of Communicative Action and the re-reading he makes of the Social Psychology by G. H. Mead to think on socialization and individuation (II) and, finally, the contributions that he has been presenting for Social Psychology, over all, for the question of the identity and the processes of recognition (III).
