Abstract

In this paper, we review convergence properties of the conjugate gradients method and of other related Krylov subspace methods. We also pay attention to the convergence of the approximations of eigenvalues that are derived from the Krylov subspace, and which are called Ritz values. All topics are mutually strongly connected.
