Abstract

Validity is achieved when a test measures what it is intended to measure. This paper studies the various validity considerations in designing the listening test and firstly concentrates on five aspects: the types of a listening test, content validity, criterion-related validity, construct validity, and face validity. It also points out the design of items and responses are essential for qualified tests. College teachers should pay attention to theoretical and empirical researches on testing design. © 2012 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
