Abstract

Communication is difficult, even when only two people discuss a commonly understood topic or idea. Elevator engineers need to use common terms to describe elevator performance in order to improve communication. This article discusses work underway in the U.S. to develop an "Elevator Performance Matrix" by a committee of the National Elevator Industry, Inc. (NEU) trade organization. All interested parties are invited to become involved and to support standardized terms and measurement of elevator performance.
