Abstract

We discuss the impact of information technologies and communication in the production and distribution of knowledge, culture and education. The wide availability of information, documents and free courses in all areas and health impacts in particular education. The emergence of new demands for training and qualification of professionals that must be met present new challenges to the way of teaching. There is growing interactions between students, teachers, content and performance of environments that require the support of explanatory theories of learning "online". Academic leaders recognize the importance of change and seek to promote the development of news educational strategies. The tools for online education are present and are widespread, but there is lack of preparation and training of teachers. Educational institutions in the health sciences should invest in the preparation of human resources in addition to the technological infrastructure.
