Abstract

Abundant weeds hamper tree growth and increase the risk of forest fire in the plantation forest. This study aimed r to determine the effect of organic mulching on the weed growth under nyawai stand. The experiment was designed using factorial in randomized complete block design. The results found the presence of 11 types of weeds, dominated by alang-alang and jepangan. . Alang-alang organic (Imperata cylindrica L. Raeusch) (Clibadium surinamense L) mulch had the slowest decomposition process and alang-alang mulching for 3 months supressed weed growth. Organic mulching had no significanteffect to height and diameter growth of nyawai stand and to crown diameter nyawai. The highest additional nutrient phosphorus and potassium were generated from Piper aduncum mulching, and nitrogen from jepangan mulching.
