Future research on muscle and mental fatigue in industry: A mini review

Abstract

Fatigue is a complex phenomenon resulting from various factors in modern industries. Many studies have investigated on this matter. Unfortunately at present, there is no concrete solution for that. This paper presents a preliminary review on muscle and mental fatigue in industries. The review were based on some selected refereed journal articles. The results from the review indicate that there is a relationship between rests and breaks in doing the work with muscle and mental fatigue. Therefore future direction will develop a quantitative assessment system for muscle and mental fatigue in industry by doing survey and laboratory experiment. © 2008 Springer-Verlag.
