Abstract

Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis are two main clinically defined forms of chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Our understanding of IBD depends largely on rodent models. DSS-induced intestinal inflammation in mice and T cell transfer colitis in SCID mice are most widely used and accepted models that can recapitulate the human diseases. Here, we provide detailed protocols of these two mouse models of experimentally induced intestinal inflammation. We also discuss the protocols for the isolation and analysis of inflammatory T cell from the colon. © Springer Science+Business Media New York 2014.
