Abstract

This paper presents a Bacterial Foraging Algorithm (BFA) based controller parameter selection procedure for a nonlinear spherical tank system. In this work Enhanced BFA (EBFA) is adopted to find the Kp and Ki value for the PI controller. Minimization of Integral Absolute Error (IAE), peak overshoot (Mp) and settling time (ts) are chosen as the objective function. The performance of the proposed method is validated with a comparison of Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). This study confirms that, the proposed method offers satisfactory performance in terms of time domain and error performance criteria and also verified with simulation and real time results.
