Abstract

The article presents the author's opinion on the issue concerning fatal drownings worldwide. He reveals that the estimated numbers of drowning remain high despite the declining numbers in developed countries including the U.S. He also mentions that most of the tragedy happened in low and middle income countries (LMICs) particularly during the monsoon season where water is omnipresent. Meanwhile, the author notes about a proposal for barrier to water in home environments for drowning prevention.
