Abstract

Educational Robotics is the use of robots and robotic kits in school projects. The students build and program robots to perform a diversity of tasks, sometimes in interdisciplinary activities. That way, some cognitive and group work and project organization skills are trained and exercised, and it also serves as a first with engineering for the students. The ROBO+EDU project aims at developing a Open Source kit for Educational Robotics for Brazilian schools through the Introduction to Educational Robots project from the Mais Educação program. Basing itself in the Arduino hardware, the group is building a kit able to compete with closed platforms already being commercialized, and that can benefit from the already existing development development communities around the platform.
