Children who have an disproportionally small eye or lack one eyeball are likely to suffer from facial asymmetry. In order to gain insight into the pathogenesis and seek effective intervention strategies to it, we studied the biomechanical factors that may affect the development of children' orbital-bone by establishing a model based on CT images so that biomechanical analyses on two-year-old children's orbital-bone can be performed. As the preparation for later biomedical analysis, the modeling is performed using software Mimics. Although there have been several reports for orbital-bone until now, most of them are concerned about adults instead of children, especially two-year-old, who are in period of blooming growth,. © 2011 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
