Mangroves are high productive ecosystems which have a special diversity of macro and microorganisms with ecological and economical relevancy. The activity of mangrove inhabiting fungi is fundamental to the nutrient cycle and ecosystem regulation. Current knowledge about these organisms has been pointed toward their diversity, distribution, ecology, production of antimicrobial substances and plant - fungi interactions as phytopathogens or beneficial symbionts involved in process like phosphate solubilization and mobilization.
