Abstract

Although there has been a marked improvement as a result of the nationwide growth-monitoring and community-based nutrition programmes of the Ministry of Public Health, PEM and micro-nutrient deficiencies still undermine the quality of Thailand's future human resources in vulnerable groups. Moreover, Thailand is facing new nutrition-related health threats, including heart disease, hypertension, and certain types of cancer. Meeting the food security and dietary needs of people depends on improvement in every link of the food chain, including research, training, and technology development in food production, food storage and distribution, nutrition and public health, income distribution, education, and food and nutrition policy. -from Author
